Roffey Park’s 2015 Management Agenda Survey has been running for 18 years and aims to highlight the views of managers on aspects of organisational life. It is a key barometer of working life. Over 1,300 UK managers from both inside and outside HR and of varying levels of seniority responded to this year’s survey. On this page we summarise some key findings.

PUBLIC SECTOR GLOOM

HR managers in the public sector expect the size of their workforce to shrink in the immediate future. The focus in the sector continues to be on reform and changing the way the public sector works. Managing change, retaining and engaging employees continue to be key people challenges in the sector.

Our evidence and that of others would suggest the challenge of retaining skilled employees in the public sector may become more urgent rather than less so over the next few years. Just over half of public sector managers responding to our survey report an intention to leave their jobs in the near future.
