Recently I received the honour of being invited to become a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, which invitation I was, of course, happy to accept.
That prompted me to think a little further about the Institute itself. Like many familiar things in our lives, the monarchy, parliament and the BBC, for example, we are so used to them being there that we often do not consider their creation and why they survive. I will leave you to your own thoughts on those questions in respect of the institutions mentioned in my examples, but will take a closer look at the IoD in this column.
